Gloves

A glove is a garment used to cover the hand. Gloves have separate sheaths or openings for each finger and the thumb. They too are a form of reusable hand warmers. Gloves which cover the entire hand but do not have separate finger openings are called mittens. Mittens are actually warmer than gloves made of the same material because fingers remain much warmer when they are in contact with each other.

Gloves can be used to protect the hands against both cold and heat but for the purpose of this website the examples we give will be for gloves that protect against the cold as reusable hand warmers.

These Cortech winter gloves have an aniline drum dyed goatskin palm which is abrasion resistant because of the titanium carbon protection panels. The insulation in these gloves is 3M Thinsulate 100gm insulation. For protection the gloves have moulded titanium knuckle, finger and wrist protection panels. For comfort of wearing the palm and fingers are pre curved for form fitting comfort. The cuff is a large gauntlet with a leather closure flap that also incorporates a titanium carbon protection. The fleece interior lining is soft brushed. These gloves weigh 16 ounces.

The Seirus all weather fleeced glove is a soft polartec glove using weather shield technology. The outer of the gloves is of soft fleece. Inside, the gloves have a wicking fleece inner lining whilst the palm is a full quartz palm. The gloves are windproof as well as water resistant and do have a breathable membrane. They do have form fitting for comfort and dexterity and are actually very comfortable to wear. For added warmth the gloves have 2 layers of fleece. So as well as being called gloves the term reusable hand warmers can also apply. They are the original soft shell glove.
